No Sticks Found Here: The Story Behind Proximity Wellness

In today's world, it seems like everything is becoming bigger, more automated, and less personal. Healthcare is no exception.

At Proximity Wellness, we've chosen a different path.

PRX wasn't built in a corporate boardroom. It wasn't created by investors looking for the next healthcare startup. It was built by two brothers who grew up with modest means, learned the value of hard work early in life, and still carry those lessons with them today.

When we're not helping clients navigate ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and life's many challenges, you'll probably find us doing things that have absolutely nothing to do with psychiatry.

Working on cars. Building something in the garage. Tackling a home improvement project.

Fixing something that probably didn't need fixing in the first place. Getting our hands dirty.

We enjoy creating things. We enjoy solving problems. We enjoy the satisfaction that comes from putting in the work and seeing the results. That same mindset drives how we care for our clients.

We never want to lose the blue-collar spirit we were raised with. We know what it's like to work long hours, worry about bills, raise families, deal with stress, and carry responsibilities that don't disappear when the workday ends. We've worked in law enforcement, corrections, healthcare, logistics, finance, and business leadership. We've seen people at their best and their worst, and we've learned that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Because of that, we try to approach every client the same way we'd want our own family members treated. With honesty, respect, and without judgment. And without all the unnecessary fluff!

That's where our motto comes from: People Over Profits.

It's not a marketing slogan. It's how we operate.

If someone needs extra help, we try to help.

If someone has questions, we answer them.

If someone is struggling, we listen.

If we can make one person's day a little better, we consider that time well spent.

One of our personal goals is simple:

Go out of your way to help at least one person every day.

Sometimes that's a client. Sometimes it's a friend. Sometimes it's a complete stranger.

The point is that helping people shouldn't stop when the workday ends.

There's no question that awards and recognition are appreciated. In fact, we've been fortunate to have an incredible year. Proximity Wellness was recently recognized as Most Patient-Focused Mental Health Practice 2026 - Florida and received the GHP Excellence Award in Telehealth Services 2026.

We're grateful for every recognition, nomination, and opportunity that has come our way.

But if we're being honest, those awards aren't what motivate us to get out of bed every morning.

The email from a client who finally feels hopeful again.

The college student who made it through a difficult semester.

The professional who avoided burnout and rediscovered balance.

The parent who can be more present with their family.

The veteran or first responder who finally decided to ask for help.

Those moments mean more to us than any plaque hanging on a wall.

Awards are nice. Positive client feedback is priceless.

Knowing that we've made a genuine difference in someone's life will always be the achievement we're most proud of.

Over the years, we've learned something important: people don't need perfection from their healthcare providers. They need someone who is genuine.

In fact, one of our recent clients told us she was referred to PRX because, and we quote:

"Jamie doesn't have a stick up his a$$."

To which we can only respond:

Fair enough. That assessment is accurate.

When it comes to patient care, there are no sticks to be found in or out of the sunshine at Proximity Wellness. What you will find are real conversations with real people working tirelessly towards real solutions.

No ivory towers. No fancy corporate language. No pretending to have all the answers.

Just two brothers who genuinely care about helping people improve their lives.

At the end of the day, we're more comfortable sitting at a backyard BBQ than attending a black-tie gala. We'll take cheeseburgers over hors d'oeuvres any day.

That's who we've always been. And no matter how much PRX grows, that's who we will always be.

Mental healthcare doesn't need to be complicated.

Sometimes people simply need someone willing to meet them where they are, listen without judgment, and help them take the next step forward.

That's the path we're committed to carving. One person at a time.

And as long as there are people who need help, we'll keep showing up, rolling up our sleeves, and doing the work.
